Regardless of whether you are using it or storing it, it is important that you secure your trailer adequately when it is not being driven. Fortunately, there are a number of security products that can be used in order to prevent your trailer from being stolen or damaged. Locks like shroud locks may be used. Not only are these a secure means of protecting your trailer investment but they may also be insurance approved so you can enjoy benefits this way too. Wheel clamps are another beneficial means of securing your trailer when not in use.

Using an enclosed trailer is your best option to ensure that anything on board is kept secure. Not only do they provide a greater barrier to theft but any items inside the trailer are rendered invisible to would be thieves. This removes the potential display of reward so that most opportunistic thieves will not be interested in the risk associated with attempting to steal something they cannot see.

Always make sure that the trailer is hitched fully and securely to your car when it needs to be. Use good quality locking pins to prevent it from being removed. Also, when the trailer no longer needs to be secured to the vehicle, you can use a shroud clamp to ensure that the trailer cannot be hitched up and driven away by somebody else.

Shroud locks for trailers are a highly effective method of ensuring that the lock acts as a barrier to theft by those that would drive away with your trailer in tow.

Trailer wheel clamps can prevent your trailer from being moved or removed. They lock around the wheel in the same way that a wheel clamp works for a car but they are designed for use on trailer sized wheels. They prevent the trailer from being dragged or otherwise moved from the position that you leave them in, again making them a beneficial and useful method of securing a trailer.
